Post-Punk / Alt-Rock Releases April 3 Reviewed from early tracks
Robber Robber
Two Wheels Move the Soul
The full album isn't out until April 3rd, but what's available is enough to make the case. Robber Robber make music that sounds like the 90s alternative underground remembered correctly — not the radio version, not the VH1 retrospective version, but the feeling of a record that exists for the people who needed it. The production is dry in the right places, layered where it earns it. None of the tracks announced themselves as the single, which is either a problem or exactly the point. They all held attention long enough to want to go back. There's a moment or two that hit like early Silversun Pickups — that particular kind of melodic unease where the song sounds pretty until you realize it isn't. Worth the full listen when it drops.
